N0.
Date of Submission : 08 September,2008
Name of Teacher : Muhammad Shaheen
Subject : English
Class : 6th
Evaluation of the students’ last lesson:
I evaluated the students’ previous knowledge so as to know whether they had learnt the previous lesson “Treasure Island (The Map)”completely or not. After putting them to both written and oral tests I came to know that all students got a clear idea about the lesson.
Planning for the Next Week:
From 08 Sep to 12 Sep, 2008
Topic : AROUND THE WORLD IN EIGHTY DAYS (
Bet) Lesson No: 5
Duration: 5 Periods
Objectives :
To enable the students:
i. To tell the story of suspension in disbelief.
ii. To fill in the blank spaces
iii. To explain the words meanings with correct pronunciation.
Prior Knowledge :
To elicit the students prior knowledge I shall ask them
the following questions:
(i) Have you ever read a suspense story?
(ii) What is its name?
(iii) What happened in those stories? Can tell me in your own words?
(iv) Is it possible to go around in the world? The world is a very big place? Etc.
Skills To Be Developed:
I shall integrate all the four skills with story-telling and
observational skills of the students.
Methodology :
STEP ONE
First I shall ask the students to read the lesson silently for ten minutes. Then I would ask some questions so as to force them to bring the answers to their mind. Then I would read and explain the text. I shall ask questions during the explanation. I would ask the following questions:
(i) When does this story take place?
(ii) Who made a bet?
(iii) Where is Shangai?
(iv) How many pounds were stolen?
(v) What is the idea of Mr. Stuart?
(vi) Who would find out the thief?
(vii) Where is Brindisi?
(viii) What does Mr. Flannigan say?
(ix) What was the reward for the capture of the robber?
(x) How has the world grown smaller?
(xi) Who said “Eighty days is enough ?
(xii) How much money does Mr. Fog have in the bank?
After that I shall read the lesson myself along with words meanings so as to give them a good sort of model reading. Then I shall ask them to read the lesson one by one.
Activities:
I shall divide the whole class into groups and in each group their would be 4 students. Each group will have to find out all the articles.
Project/Home Assignment:
I shall assign the students the task of filling the blanks at the end of the lesson and ticking the true and crossing the false sentences given in the exercise.
Assessment:
Being fully certain with my teaching I would assess the students’ comprehension by putting them to both oral and written tests.
Self-assessment:
After evaluating the students if there is anything missing in my teaching I shall repeat the lesson with new techniques.
